An Artist that creates video art :Pipilotti Rist

  • Rist was born in 1962, she studied video art in Basel, Switzerland. In 1997, her work was first featured in theVenice Biennial, where she was awarded the Premio 2000 Prize. She creates video art that that more often than not features herself.
  • She creates work that is supposed to relate to gender, sexuality, the human body. Her art is also supposed to transmit happiness, and simplicity.
  • She does a great Job portraying this theme through her color choices, and the use and infasis on the simplicity of the nude human body.

  • Over all I really like this artist I enjoy the colors she uses, and the subject that she chooses. I especially liker the " Put your body out" piece because if its message to interact with the nature around us. Although the "I'm not the girl that misses much" really disturbed me because of the style of the film and her voice saying that she doesn't miss much put me on edge.

Project #4

  • The Basic Idea of this piece is of coarse a ram skull, but I intended for the viewer to focus on, and and almost the power of the horns.
  • The horns are the rams main defense, so I tried to portray the fierceness of the rams horns through giving them texture that portrays that. The desighn decisions that I made were to glue pieces of pine cone to give the horns an intimidating feel. I also didn't put much texture or design in the rest of the skull in order to have the focus point be on the horns. I definintly put the most time into the horns, and it shows.
  • Through making this piece I learned not to underestimate the time it will take to hot glue hundreds of pieces of pine cone to a horn. I also learned that if i do something, like leave hot glue strands, that i need to do it all the way or not leave any at all.
  • If I could do anything better I would leave more hot glue strands, to add a sense of cobwebs and age.

  • The theme that I decided to do was Texture. Texture is something that i struggled with throughout my last few projects so I wanted to focus on texture in my blog in order to help with ideas for textures in my final project.
  • I really enjoyed the texture of the pine cone, and I am currently using that texture in my final project. I also really enjoyed the texture of the dried up log that I found. Its age deepened iyts grain design giving it a rough yet flowing texture. Finally I enjoyed the fake fur, it has a coarse, yet fluffy texture that would serve well in an animal sculpture.
  • An artist that has used pine cones in his art is the creator of Third Eye Pinecones. He crates crystallized pine cone necklaces that are perfect for the average hippy.
